I have recently been told by those around me that it takes a certain type boldness to bellydance. I do accept that it takes courage to try something new. I do know there are misperceptions of the dance style I choose to do. There are many performers out there that call their craft bellydance that is wildly different from what I dance. What I have found is that dance makes me happy. The women I dance with are wonderful, warm, creative beings. The music we dance to has ancient roots and is very complex which is wonderful to listen to and to dance to. The dance form is body friendly and I choose to perform in a family friendly way. I am reminded of the saying "Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
