Get your groove back.
Tired of putting your joy at the bottom of the priority list?
Join us in the studio and get your groove back. Feed your soul with joy and give you and your family a happier you. Plus, add a little sassy and spice back into your workouts, wink. We celebrate curves!
I teach easy to learn bellydance moves and dance combinations in a "non-judgy" (as my daughter would say) environment. Bellydance is a sensual, a low impact, body friendly workout. Get a stronger core with NO situps. Improve your range of motion and balance. Who doesn't want more of that?
But I have no dance experience, I am worried about picking it up.
You will get the support you need to feel confident that you are getting the moves. I teach with a variety of learning modalities; visual, aural, and kinesthetic (with permission, of course). I build the moves from the feet up and take the time so you can get it. We progressively add onto the combinations. You will be able to take these combinations outside of class to show off to friends.
I teach the same combination 2 weeks in a row. This allows you to really learn it and if life happens and you aren't able to make one class, no worries, you don't miss anything (or feel left out or behind).
You will have access to practice videos of the combinations taught in class to reinforce what you learn in class.
But I have bellydanced before.
You will refine your technique and your performance presence. With an emphasis on the fundamentals sprinkled with cues and suggestions on improve your focus and flow, it is a low stress way to take your dance to the next level. You can also take the combinations, play with time (timing, arm positions, directional focus) and put them into your own choreographies.
Because I run the class as a multi-level class, if you have a friend who has been wanting to try bellydance, now you both can come to the same class and have fun together. This gives her the buddy-system for trying something new - less stress, more fun.
What should I wear to class?
For the very first class, wear clothes you can easily move in. A good choice is yoga pants, a tank top or t-shirt, and socks (that you don't care if they get dirty). Why socks? Although many dancers dance barefoot, turning can be tough on the feet and sneakers can be bulky and stiff. If you have jazz shoes or ballet slippers or footpaws, bring them. Most importantly, you should be comfortable with your choice, so if that is sneakers for you, wear sneakers. If you have a hip scarf, definitely bring it.
